About

Update: June 16th, 2009

As of July 2008, Darling Husband (DH in forum-speak from now on to be referred to as “Husband”) and I had finally gotten it together enough marriage-wise to move forward on the child front.  It’s not that we hadn’t thought about children, it’s just that we hadn’t quite figured out how to have a real relationship.   We were very late bloomers with respect to that but we finally got there.  Ages: me - 39, husband - 45.

Onward to the child production - or so we thought.

In October 2008, after 3 months of TTC (trying to conceive), I learned that I had high FSH.  The OB said that it was high but it wasn’t a problem “try for a few more months and then see an RE (reproductive endocrinologies).  Right. I Googled my FSH number, proceeded to freak out, and got an appointment with the first RE I could at The Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (CRMI) I was lucky, and got an appointment within the month.

That October was a whirlwind, crash course in Fertility as I learned that I not only had high FSH which most likely meant a diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) but I also had fibroids, blocked tubes, and endomitriosis.

This is the story of better learning late than never.

Hopefully our story will both help others deal with the vaguries of biology and, dare I say, be a lesson to those who think that they can wait forever.  Some of you probably can, but really, most of you can’t. Sobering, but true.

Hi there, can you please contact me? I’m 28 years old and was just told I have premature ovarian failure due to my fsh level. I’m devastated at the fact that children might not be in the cards for me, but I’m remaining positive and hopeful.

If you’re able to, please shoot me an e-mail. I appreciate it!!
